Eventuri's 2018–2022 BMW Z4 Carbon Intake System provides the turbo with a less restrictive airflow path while maintaining low inlet temperatures. High inlet temperatures are detrimental to engine performance, causing the turbo to build boost with heated, less dense air, reducing power. The only way to ensure IATs are at a minimum is for a fully sealed intake. However, this results in a restriction, where only one inlet feed draws air. During development, Eventuri noticed an additional opening into the wheel arch area and took advantage of this space by routing a secondary inlet to the air box. To further protect from radiant heat transfer, the air box receives a layer of gold reflective heat shielding, guarding the cooler air against performance-robbing engine heat.
Eventuri engineered this airbox as large as possible, maximizing volume while including a recess for potential strut bracing. In addition, the stock convoluted intake tube is replaced with a smoother carbon tube increasing internal volume and smoothly tapering down to match the turbo inlet. Finally, Eventuri uses a custom-made high-flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filtration area than the stock filter. The increased filter surface area combined with the redesigned air box results in more air volume and colder temperatures generating improved performance.
